Tessie M. Sudo, of Nanticoke, passed away Friday July 14, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Nanticoke on December 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Mary Walczak Kensicki (Kencitzski).
In her younger days, Tessie worked at the Swanee Hotel and Restaurant in Nanticoke and the Kingston House. Later on, she worked at General Cigar and Duplan Silk Mill. She was a longtime member of St. Faustina Parish. She attended the Garfield School in Honey Pot.
Tessie enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing bingo, feeding the birds and other animals, her Polish heritage and spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Adam, in 2012; sisters: Hermina Kensicki (infant), Lillian Krashinski, Agnes Corr, Celia Wasilewski, Cassie Kolodgie, Irene Antolik, and Ann George; brothers: Leo and Frank Kencitzski.
Surviving are: daughters: Virginia Linskey and her husband, Robert, Jenkins Township; Virgil Angela Kahl, Wyomissing; grandchildren: Dr. Melissa Linskey-Dougherty and her husband, Brendan; Jessica Lane and her husband, Jason; Erica Kahl; and Alexander Kahl.; great-granddaughter: Hailey; sister: Julia Olejar.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerald Maloney, Dr. John Bobeck, Dr. Elizabeth Gernhardt, the staff at River View Ridge Assisted Living, and Celtic Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM from Kearney Funeral Home Inc, 173 E. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Faustina Parish, with the Rev. James Nash officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Sheatown.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
