Lorraine Martin, 79, of Nanticoke, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at home.
Born in Wanamie, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Frances Kaminski. She was a graduate of Newport High School.
Lorraine enjoyed traveling, having visited 31 states, attending craft shows and watching Polka bands. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks and doing daily ‘Find-a-Word’ puzzles. She also loved to stop at McDonald’s for a coffee.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; son, Michael; brother, Frank Kaminski; infant brother, Michael; sister, Cornelia Kruszka; stepmother, Isabel.
Surviving are her children: Thomas and his wife, Jane, Drums; Mary Havard and her husband, Tom, Newport Twp.; Donna Kostrzewski and her husband, Joe, Mountain Top; Deacon John Paul and his wife, Shih-Ru, Bismarck, N.D.; brother, Edward Kaminski; sister, Diane Myers; sister-in-law, Margarite Kaminski; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was a cancer survivor from her early 40’s. Nearly two years ago, she successfully fought that battle for the second time. Over the past few months, however, her cancer metastasized very aggressively, causing her tremendous pain and suffering, to the point of her asking her Savior, Jesus Christ, to relieve that pain. He granted Lorraine’s request on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 173 E. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Faustina Parish. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Sheatown. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. The family has specified that masks are optional.
